: How to Talk To an Anti-Feminist →
jgh-2:
rockerrepro:
Sometimes we come across women (or men) who are so vehemently against the idea of feminism, it really starts aggravating us. But we must remember one of the prime directives of feminism, which is to educate those who have bought into the stereotype media has foisted upon our movement. These people…
I largely agree with these pointers with the exception that provable facts...

INTJ- Why you want one: It’s kind of intoxicating to be around someone this smart and serious. It’s really sexy for as long as you can go without getting compliments/any affirmation that they like you back. Spoiler Alert: Oblivious misers. Where to find one: Home alone, reading something really interesting, generally not giving a fuck. Pickup technique: Figure out what they’re...

Joe Biden grinning like a kid with candy, leaning over to a scowling Boehner like, “Eh, eh? Didn’t I say this was going to be fun?” And Boehner looking all like, “Stop touching my arm.”

It’s supposed to be some amazing body wash cloth that Japanese and Korean people use to slough off layers and layers of skin—which appeals to me because I’m kind of tired of having the skin on my knees rub off onto my body towel. The reviews say that jjimjilbang massage ladies use them on their clients to make their skin perfect and soft and amazing. But in my last two tries, I...

Mean Girls 2 WAS TERRIBLE.
It was like watching a multiple car collision on the freeway. The original Mean Girls had thoughtful social commentary! And didn’t throw the word “bitch” around! And didn’t take god those sluts should be in solitary confinement as its dominant view! The first Mean Girls was actually funny!

Student Tracking Finds Limited Learning In College →
The research found an average-scoring student in fall 2005 scored seven percentage points higher in spring of 2007 on the assessment. In other words, those who entered college in the 50th percentile would rise to the equivalent of the 57th after their sophomore years.
Among the findings outlined in the book and report, which tracked students through four years of college:
—Overall, the...

Here's a free henna "how-to" PDF from a lady who... →
This PDF is glorious. It includes diagrams, before-and-after photos, and all sorts of information on what you should and shouldn’t add to your henna mixtures. There’s even a chart that tells you what your hair will look like depending on your natural hair color and what you use on it (cassia, henna, indigo) in different ratios.
I should have read this before using henna. Maybe I...

Things I've learned and other notes on henna:
Lush brand henna has to be warmed over the stove because of the cocoa butter they use, which is solid at room temperature. The henna I used was just powder, so all I needed to do was add water (I used coffee) to keep it in a liquid-y state. You also need something acidic, like lemon juice, because of some chemical process thing that makes the dyeing ingredient in henna work better. I added a...

I really struggle to accept or believe the fact that I was in elementary school 18+ years ago, because the memories are so vivid and it all seems fairly recent. I remember standing in my kitchen with the curly phone cord wrapped around myself, telling this boy my birthday party ends at 4:05, not 4, so he would presumably stay 5 minutes longer than everyone else. Five minutes—it once...

Everything you need to know about henna.
neverbehopeless:
I’ve gotten some questions about the stuff I used, so here’s everything I learned in the time I spent researching.
What the fuck is henna: Henna’s this little shrubby plant that contains a red-brown dye called lawsome. Lawsome really likes clinging to proteins and turning them red, which is why it’s used to dye skin and hair.
Why I tried it: Oddly enough, my first...

CNN Blog | No, your zodiac sign hasn't changed →
If you considered yourself a Cancer under the tropical zodiac last week, you’re still a Cancer under the same zodiac this week.
That’s because the tropical zodiac – which is fixed to seasons, and which Western astrology adheres to – differs from the sidereal zodiac – which is fixed to constellations and is followed more in the East, and is the type of zodiac to which the Star...

SF Gate | Mother, superior? →
Far from being strident, the book’s tone is slightly rueful, frequently self-deprecating and entirely aware of its author’s enormities. It’s a little, but not quite, like a Chelsea Handler book — if Chelsea Handler were a Chinese American law professor and Momzilla of two.
I decided I had to connect with Chua herself to learn firsthand what she was really trying to say...

bingoparaphernalia said: I googled “abortion” + “green apple” and a few sites seem to have something along the lines of, saying a foetus isn’t a baby is like saying a green apple isn’t an apple because it’s not ripe yet. Would that be it? I’m loathe to click through to them.

One thing at a time.
I sleep, mostly. I spread out my errands over several days—not because being on crutches makes it that much more difficult, but because I’ll have something to do tomorrow. Yesterday I did my laundry. Today I took a shower.
